Full-time
Robot Hardware Engineer (Mechanical)
About the role
A position building the “body” of Muso-roid, our general-purpose robot worker. You will own hardware end to end — from selecting and developing robots, cameras, and robot hands to peripheral equipment and data-collection devices.
The crossover between physical AI and established robotics requires technology that does not yet exist anywhere. Hardware in particular is highly challenging: data collection is a whole new workload, and the new use cases physical AI unlocks come with hardware requirements of their own.
Responsibilities
- Select and develop hardware such as robots, cameras, and robot hands
- Develop peripheral equipment for robots
- Develop data-collection devices
Why this role
- Join right after our seed round and take part in technology selection and development across our entire robotics stack
- Build technologies that do not yet exist, at the crossover of physical AI and established robotics
- Work on the front line of unprecedented hardware requirements, from data-collection devices to use cases unique to physical AI
Required
- 3+ years of professional experience in hardware development
- Professional experience in mechanical design
- Practical experience ordering machined parts
Nice to have
- Experience developing robots of any kind, including non-commercial ones
- Experience developing robot grippers
- Professional experience in circuit design
- Experience developing factory-automation (FA) equipment
- Development experience using actuators
- Experience with offline teaching or simulation
- Understanding of functional safety
- Experience with industrial robots, PLCs, or industrial machinery
- Experience using AI in hardware development
Who we're looking for
- You design hardware use-case first
- You reason rationally from basic science, engineering, and hands-on experience
- You balance flexibility toward new use cases and requirements with an uncompromising grip on what must never slip, such as safety
