Robot foundation model (VLA) kitting trial at Daikin's Sakai Plant moves to Phase 2
Muso Action has moved into Phase 2 of its joint trial with the Production Technology Center of Daikin Industries, Ltd., automating the kitting process at Daikin's Sakai Plant with a robot foundation model (VLA). Phase 1 (on-site testing) was completed in July 2026. The trial has been supported by "1stRound," a startup support program operated by University of Tokyo Innovation Platform Co., Ltd., and has been carried out jointly since the two companies signed an MOU in December 2025.
In Phase 1, we confirmed that combining data collected at our office and in mock environments with a small amount of on-site data improves accuracy, even when on-site data collection is limited. In Phase 2 (July to November 2026), our "Muso Physical AI Kit" has been deployed at the Sakai Plant, and Daikin's engineers themselves handle everything from data collection to model training and validation with no code. The goal is to show that a physical AI development cycle can be run quickly and led by the shop floor.
Building on what we learn from this trial, we will accelerate development and deployment toward a general-purpose robot worker that anyone can hire, able to handle diverse environments and tasks.
